Land Rover Shows New Ultra-Luxe Range Rovers At Los Angeles Auto Show

Range Rover Long-Wheelbase Autobiography Black

Land Rover has officially unveiled its latest Range Rover variants at the LA Auto Show this week. On display were the Range Rover Long-Wheelbase and the Range Rover Long-Wheelbase Autobiography Black edition–both of which were making their global debuts.

These latest models are aimed at satisfying global demand for more luxury, more comfort, and more interior space. The long-wheelbase Range Rover adds 7.3-inches of rear seat legroom over the standard model. This has achieved by lengthening the aluminum body, but engineers were careful to retain the Range Rover’s distinctive silhouette. Buyers can choose to have a three-across bench seat in back or individual rear seats with a center console. The latter includes seats that recline up to 17 degrees. The long-wheelbase model also includes standard powered door blinds and a panoramic sunroof to enhance the already plush riding experience.

Serving as the new flagship model is the 2014 Range Rover Long-Wheelbase Autobiography Black. In addition to the changes mentioned above, the Autobiography Black edition includes the highest quality leathers and materials. These models have been overseen by Jaguar Land Rover’s ‘Engineered To Order’ (ETO) division and will be limited to just 100 units here in the U.S. for the upcoming model year. Amenities include front and rear seats with seat memory and climate control, a new center console, 10.2-inch rear seat entertainment screens, and configurable LED mood lighting. Rear passengers benefit from the addition of lumbar massage and powered reclining seats.

“The Range Rover Long-Wheelbase Autobiography Black is the latest step in our transformational journey that moves luxury to another level. This vehicle is an intensely design focused response to our customers’ desire for more choice and exclusivity,” says Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Design Director and Chief Creative Officer. “The highest standards of precision detailing, together with the use of the finest crafted materials, have been achieved inside and out. Autobiography Black represents the pinnacle of desirability in the world of luxury inhabited by our Range Rover customers.”

Long-wheelbase Range Rover models are expected to start in late Q1 2014. Pricing for the standard Range Rover LWB will begin at $106,196, while the Autobiography model will start at  $137,645.
