Would you feel completely at ease behind the wheel of a Hyundai Elantra Coupe when the zombie apocalypse arrived? Well, neither would we. But a new concept vehicle from the Korean automaker helped change our minds.

The Hyundai Elantra Coupe Zombie Survival Machine was unveiled this week at the annual Comic-Con in San Diego, CA. Designed by by The Walking Dead creator and writer Robert Kirkman and Design Craft Fabrication, the California-based firm better known for its race-car-building skills, the vehicle is specially designed to thwart the attack of an undead horde.

“Our custom Elantra Coupe Zombie Survival Machine is the ultimate car for The Walking Dead fans and anyone who wants to survive a zombie invasion,” said Steve Shannon, vice president of Marketing, Hyundai Motor America. “We are excited for fans to come and experience the Elantra Coupe and GT in a unique, post-apocalyptic way.”

Helping to keep zombies at bay is a trunk full of electric and pneumatic weaponry, front and back end floodlights, spiked all-terrain/rally type tires, a CB radio system and much more. Even if you don’t plan on traveling to San Diego, Hyundai is giving everyone a chance to see the car up-close at

“Working with Hyundai on this Zombie Survival Machine was a total blast and I am excited to share this stunning vehicle with all the fans,” said Kirkman.
