Hot Hatch Indeed: 370-HP Hyundai Veloster to be Shown at SEMA

Hyundai Veloster Turbo SEMA

Hyundai started making a big splash at SEMA a few years ago, and this year will be no different. When the aftermarket parts show gets underway at the beginning of November, Hyundai will have a Genesis Coupe on hand boasting 1,000-horsepower, as well as a 370-horsepower Veloster Turbo developed with the help of Fox Marketing.

Under the hood is the Hyundai Veloster’s standard 1.6-liter Gamma four-cylinder engine. However, the turbo has been replaced with an even larger turbocharger along with an intercooler, cat-back exhaust and nitrous and methanol injection. Fox Marketing is also pumping the hatchback with 101-octane racing fuel for just a little more responsiveness.

Other performance modifications include all-new brakes with larger rotors, a new suspension system with adjustable coil-overs, a several chassis enhancements to improve overall rigidity. And while not performance related, the Fox Marketing Veloster also receives an eye-catching paint scheme, fog light surrounds lifted from the Genesis Coupe, front lip spoiler, and other subtle tweaks to the front and rear fascias. The interior has appropriate been outfitted with racing seats and racing harness to keep passengers securely in place.

“The Veloster Turbo was designed with affordable performance in mind,” said Scott Margason, director, product planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Fox Marketing’s unique concept showcases the versatility of our turbocharged 4-cylinder Gamma engine family while expanding the overall performance envelope for the Veloster line.”
