Land Rover’s compact Evoque has only been on the market for a year and continues to garner praise amidst impressive competition. But for 2014, Land Rover was eager to improve its already successful formula.

The biggest change introduced for the new model year is the introduction of an all-new ZF nine-speed automatic transmission. The unit can adapt to varying driving styles and it promises to balance performance with improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.

Additionally, 2014 Evoque buyers will be able to opt for the new Active Driveline, an innovative new on-demand all-wheel drive system. According to Land Rover, it’s the world’s first ‘on demand’ system that enhances agility and improves fuel efficiency by operating in front-wheel drive only during steady-state driving at speeds above 22mph. The system works in tandem with Active Torque Biasing with electronic-Diff (e-Diff) technology to distribute torque between the rear wheels, optimizing traction and stability.

Lastly, Land Rover has also made a few aesthetic updates, including the addition of the striking Zanzibar Bronze paint scheme, pictured above.

Land Rover Global Brand Director, John Edwards expressed his pride in the latest Evoque and said, “We are thrilled to be moving the Evoque on to the next stage and believe the exciting new driveline technology, driver safety and convenience features plus the Land Rover InControl connectivity capability (using advanced mobile technology to keep owners connected with their vehicle, their world and Land Rover services), make the 2014 Evoque an unbeatable choice for customers seeking the ultimate in compact SUV vehicles.”
