2013 Hyundai Sonata Gets More Goodies

Although a full redesign is due in 2014, Hyundai decided to make some changes its beloved Sonata for the 2013 model year. Prices will increase slightly, by $100 to $150 or more per trim, to reflect some of these updates.

For starters, the base 2013 Sonata will have more available features. Standard features now include a six-speed automatic transmission, as Hyundai has ditched the manual gearbox completely. Without the manual, mileage has also changed and all Sonatas now get 24/35 mpg city/highway.

The update also includes the addition of heated front seats and standard fog lights to the Sonata’s Popular Equipment Package. This package on the GLS model will bring the sedan’s total cost to $21,720.

Move up to the SE trim and you’ll now find standard heated front seats, and the Limited trim comes with a regular sunroof in lieu of the panoramic sunroof. The Limited trim is $600 less expensive this year because of the change. If you still want a panoramic sunroof, it’s been added to a $2,900 Limited Premium Package. Ultimately, a 2013 Hyundai Sonata tops out at $31,270, which is just $100 more than last year’s model.

Under the hood, things remain unchanged. The 2013 Hyundai Sonata will still be powered by a a 198-horsepower 2.4-liter Theta II GDI engine or a 274-horsepower 2.0-liter Theta II GDI turbo motor. For maximum MPG, there’s also a 206-horsepower Hybrid model available. The 2013 Sonata is on sale now.
